1981 Tokai Japan PB-40 Hard Puncher Precision Bass (Black)
Highly regarded in the world of Japanese vintage guitars, the Hard Puncher series from Tokai were a very impressive range of Fender P style basses built to a very high standard. The PB-40 from 1981 features a gloss black finish on an alder body with a vintage U profile on the one-piece maple neck (20 frets, 43mm nut width), weighs 4.2kg's. Previous owner removed the original electronics and added shielding in the cavity. It's now loaded with an unbranded cloth-wire pickup (seems to be high quality) and full sized pots along with an orange drop tone capacitor.
Very good vintage condition with a few light bumps and dings as pictured, some light scratches and playwear on the neck and body. Restrung with flatwounds and given a basic setup/service prior to listing including a truss adjustment and fret polish.
