1979 Greco Japan SV-800 Super View Semi Hollowbody (Natural Flame)
Made by the Fujigen factory for Greco in the late 1970's, the SV series were designed as smaller bodied semi-hollow guitars and pre-date the Gibson ES-339 by decades! Lightly flamed maple top and back with a slim 60's three-piece maple neck and 22 fret rosewood fingerboard (44mm nut width, 628mm scale length). With a 39cm lower bout and a 27cm upper bout, the body is nice and compact while still maintaining a loud acoustic tone due to the solid centre-block, it weighs 3.8kg's.
Loaded with the original pots, wiring, jack and Maxon PU-2 pickups that match the guitar perfectly, it's got brand new Grover machine heads installed along with an aftermarket set of knobs.
This one's seen some pretty heavy use over the years with plenty of signs of wear and tear but no notable damage or repairs. The thick clear coat has some checking in the finish and there's some light binding crumble along with some binding lift near the neck joint, there's no movement here under pressure so it's still solid and there's no issue structurally. The frets have some wear and light pitting but play smoothly, restrung and given a service prior to listing including a fretboard oil and truss adjustment.
