1978 Greco GOII 700 Neckthrough Electric Guitar (Dark Ash)
Made in Japan (Fujigen) in 1978, the GO series were aimed at competing with the Ibanez Musician models that were starting to surface in Western markets.
Dark stained ash wings with a very sleek walnut/rock maple neckthrough construction, 24 fret rosewood fingerboard with a 628mm scale length, weighs a hefty 4.3kg’s. Unlike most models this features a very rare factory tension adjuster bridge that’s nice and stable. Loaded with the original covered and waxed Maxon humbuckers, it’s a simple 2V, 1T control layout with a factory coil cut switch.
This one came to us in a pretty sorry state, covered in rust and grime but it looks to be all original. We disassembled it completely and cleaned it up to a very respectable state, however left most of the surface rust/patina on the hardware as it wasn’t economical to remove it. Hardware could easily be replaced or polished if you’re into that, but it all functions perfectly and all moving parts of the tuners and bridge were lubricated. The fretboard was oiled and the frets were brushed and polished back to a playable condition, they’re smooth with plenty of life left and the neck is straight with a functional truss. Pots were flushed and work well.
