Considered by many as an upgrade to the standard Les Paul design, the Yamaha SG series are some of the fullest sounding guitars you'll ever play. The SG-175 was the exact model that lured Carlos Santana to the SG series and it considered by many to be the flagship model of the time and the foundation for all SG models that followed.
Honduran mahogany body with a solid arched top and white abalone binding, slim 60's Honduran mahogany neck with a bound ebony fingerboard (22 frets, 12" radius, abalone chevron inlays, 42mm nut), it weighs 4.2kg's. Factory loaded with Grover tuners and gold Japanese hardware, it's had the pickups replaced with a set of 1980's Yamaha humbuckers with coil-split capabilities via the added mini toggles and a master kill switch mini toggle.
Well used vintage condition with plenty of signs of cosmetic wear from use, no repairs or breaks though. The finish has some clouding and there's a few bumps and bruises to the body as pictured. Received a full professional setup and service including fretboard clean, fret polish and electronics service. Frets are in reasonable condition for it's age and have life left with some light pitting, the neck is straight and the truss works as it should.
