1980s Maxon Japan MD-9 Magnum Distortion (Big Muff) Fuzz Pedal
When the Electro Harmonix Big Muff was unleashed on the world in 1969 it was unlike anything that had been seen before. It was a raw, untamed wall of destruction that people were going crazy for, and plenty of companies wanted to cash in on the hype.
Haven't heard of the MD-9? There's a reason for that. These were only ever made for a single chain of music stores in Japan in the early 80's. Not many ever surfaced outside of Japan since only a handful were ever made. No Maxon/Ibanez collection is complete without one. The MD-9 was essentially the same circuit as the overhauled 1979 version of the D&S (which was Maxon's Big Muff circuit).
