An iconic bass made in Japan in late 1984, the DT-870 was Ibanez's flagship model Destroyer bass that was made in very limited numbers compared to some of their cheaper offerings. Basswood body with a one-piece maple neck, 21 fret rosewood fingerboard (34" scale length, 41mm nut width), it weighs 4.4kg's.
Factory loaded with three pickups (Super-J5, Super-P5 & Super-J6) controlled by master volume and tone controls, a three-way pickup selector, a tri-sound mini toggle for the bridge pickup and a middle-volume knob to enable you the option to blend the middle pickup an with the other pickups as you please. Appears to be all original except for the added string tree and replaced strap buttons, it's loaded with Smooth Tuner B-II machine heads, Tek Grip knobs and an AccuCast B-II bridge system.
Very clean for an 80's bass that was designed to be thrown around on stage and bumped into anything in it's proximity with a few bumps and scuffs but no breaks or repairs. A small section of the top near the bass side of the neck pocket was reglued and the bottom strap pin has been relocated, otherwise there's no real notable changes to it, it's one of the best examples of a DT870 to hit the market in a long time. The truss works as it should and the neck is straight, the frets were polished and the fretboard was oiled.
