Part of the acclaimed "JV" series of guitars made by the Fujigen factory in Japan in the early 1980's, this is a Squier SST-30 model from the 1984 catalog (neck dated to January 1984). Nice dull brown sunburst finish on a basswood body with a very nice 21 fret maple neck, it weighs 3.5kg's. This one was professionally refretted by Mick Harron when he was up here in Sydney doing one of his Masterclasses.
The original Fender Japan ceramic single coils have been upgraded with a set of unbranded vintage cloth-wired alnico pickups that we sourced from the Tokai factory along with a new 5-way pickup selector and output jack paired with the original pots and hardware.
Good vintage condition as pictured with a few dings and some general light wear along with naturally aged hardware/plastics. The frets are perfect after the aforementioned refret and there's a brand new bone nut installed. The neck is straight and the truss works as it should. If you're looking for the perfect "sleeper" vintage guitar that plays and sounds way above it's pricepoint then this is for you.
