Japanese made in 1986, this is one of the incredibly rare acoustic guitars released by Fender. The AS-1 has some very high end specs for the time, featuring a solid Spruce top with a solid flamed maple back and sides to give it the perfect combination of a huge sound and gorgeous look. The cutaway design gives you access to all 22 frets on the ebony fingerboard (with block inlays) and the smooth slim 60's profile on the three-piece maple neck plays very comfortably. Appears to be all original with a bone nut and saddle along with Fender Japan branded Gotoh tuners, it weighs 2.3kg's. The upper bout measures 29cm and the lower bout is 40.5cm with a 12cm depth.
Received a professional setup and service prior to listing, plays great with a smooth low action and shiny frets. The neck is straight and the truss works as it should. Plenty of life left in both the nut and the saddle.
