TASCAM PORTASTUDIO 488 MKII Multi Track Recorder (Serviced)
Japanese power plug, needs a stepdown transformer to use in Australia.
Professionally serviced prior to listing including the following (from the service invoice):
-New belts
-New C gear
-replaced tyre
-refurbished pinch roller
-cleaned and regreased all moving parts
-cleaned all switches
-cleaned and demagnetized tape heads and tape path
-checked and adjusted record and playback levels
-had to resolder all connections on the trans pcb including the transformer as the unit wasn’t turning on
-replaced capstan motor with one from a 488mki as the original one was non operational
-adjusted playback speed
-salvaged erase head from a 488 mki so I had to go through the tricky process of resoldering the 16 tiny wires on the heads so they had the right connections for the mkii
-realigned erase head
-fixed track 1+2 no input sound
-track 3 had a weird oscillation thing going on had to reflow heaps of dry looking solder joints on the mixer pcb and it fixed this problem.
-had to delete a modification someone had done to the outputs and return it to original
-track 1 had no pan pot installed so had to pop one in from a parts machine
-deep cleaned mixer section
-cleaned outer case and knobs ready for sale
