1995 Moon PGM JJ-4 Jazz Bass (Quilt Top) - Made in Japan
Moon (PGM) were established way back in the early eighties as a high-end manufaturer hand making guitars and basses for professional players on stage and in the studio. They famously worked very closely with legendary funklord Larry Graham.
The JJ-4 currently retails for over $3000USD.
This is a 1995 model JJ-4 with Moon's "Exotic" quilted maple top and an Ocean Turquoise finish. Weighs a very reasonable 3.9kg's and has a maple neck with an ebony fretboard (34 inch scale, 38mm nut width). Features two Moon brand pickups with individual volume controls, along with an active 2-band EQ/preamp (similar to the Bartolini setups that the modern Moon basses use). The tuners and bridge are both stamped Moon also.
This thing was used as a touring/recording bass for years by the previous owner. 2 knobs had been replaced and the back cavity cover is missing. The bass plays really nicely with a nice straight neck, frets are high and shiny with plenty of life. Has the feel of a bass that's been used lovingly and well looked after with frequent servicing.
