1988 Fender Japan STS55 Order Made Medium Scale Stratocaster (Red)
Description:
Made by the Fujigen factory in Japan back in 1988, this was an Order Made (custom ordered by either a store or a customer) version of the Pro Feel STM55. These models were designed to compete with the rise of Charvel and Jackson and featured some modern design features including a contoured neck heel and floating Pro Rox tremolo system. 22 frets and a 628mm scale length give it a nice tension while still being capable of the classic Stratocaster pop.
This particular guitar is finished in a factory custom red with a maple neck and alder body. Has plenty of aftermarket modifications performed over the years including a brass nut, Gotoh H.A.P machine heads, Seymour Duncan SSL-1 single coil pickups and custom wiring with a 5-way switch and master volume knob.
Well used over the years but seems to have had frequent services as the neck and frets are in good condition and play great. The red finish is clear and clean with minimal dings. Weighs 3.6kg's.
Possibly owned by Dr Seigel (Shigeru Narumo) of Flied Egg (printed on the back of the headstock, he also played these models a lot on tour) but unconfirmed as there's no provenance.
