1986 BC Rich Japan Mockingbird Bass (Early NJ Series) w/Varitone
The September 2010 issue of Guitar World ranked the Mockingbird as "the coolest guitar of all time". Whether you agree with that or not, this here is one seriously powerful Japanese made BC Rich.
Part of the NJ series ("Nagoya, Japan", not "New Jersey"), this was a Japanese made beast of a bass that will shake just about any wall you put in front of it. Maple body and neck with a rosewood fingerboard (24 frets, 860mm scale length), weighs just over 4kg's.
Factory loaded with the BC Varitone system for a wide range of tones to power the two high output P-style pickups.
These retailed for a whopping 130k Yen when they were released in the 80's and were the most expensive item in the BC Japan catalog.
Received a full setup and service prior to listing, plays and sounds great. Neck is straight and the frets are shiny with plenty of life. Sticker tan on the body but no major dings/dents. Electronics fully flushed and serviced.
