1984 Tokai Japan Love Rock TLS80 Les Paul (Cherry Sunburst)
Made by Tokai's Japanese factory in 1984, the TLS series were some of the best Gibson style guitars from the period (and that includes Gibson USA models..). This appears to be a TLS80 model with a two-piece mahogany back and maple top with a laminate flame (poly finish). Rounded one-piece mahogany neck with an 18 degree headstock pitch, rosewood fretboard with 22 frets. Loaded with TOKAI '57 PAF pickups and all original pots/wiring. Weighs 4.2kg's.
These spared no expense in emulating the Gibson design and features Trapezoid inlays, Les Paul font and an open book headstock. There's a reason these are so desirable amongst vintage buyers!
Great vintage condition with a few scuffs as pictured, some slight clouding on the headstock. No signs of structural damage or repairs. Seems to be all original. Frets have plenty of life and were polished (along with a fretboard oil) prior to listing. Also received a full teardown and clean plus a truss adjustment, plays great with a smooth low action.
*We're aware that the TLS80 usually has a nitro finish, however this ticks more boxes as a TLS80 than a TLS60. There are records of factory anomalies and spec changes so there's a good chance this falls into that category.
