1983 Aria Pro II Japan SB Elite II Defretted Fretless Electric Bass (Red)
The Aria Pro II Elite-II is known as one of the best Japanese basses to ever come out of the Matsumoku factory. Favoured by bass legends including Cliff Burton, Jack Bruce and John Taylor, the Elite II was one of the highest end instruments in the 1984 catalog (although this one was made in 1983, making it a very early example). Alder body with a smooth maple transmit neck (and heel-less cutaway) and a rosewood 24 fret fingerboard with mother-of-pearl inlays. Weighs just under 4.7kg's.
Electronic loadout features a pair of concentric volume/tone pots, rotary pickup selector and a pair of dual sound switches.
Previous owner has given this one a lot of use. It's been previously de-fretted and strung with flatwounds. Most of the body has been buffed with either steel wool or a fine sandpaper to remove the gloss on the finish. Truss cover is missing and it's got a replacement nut. Electronics all seem to work except for one coil of the bridge pickup. Sold as-is.
