1981 Tokai Japan PB-40 Hard Puncher Precision Bass (Black)
Highly regarded in the world of Japanese vintage guitars, the Hard Puncher series from Tokai were a very impressive range of Fender P style basses built to a very high standard. The PB-40 from 1981 features a gloss black finish on an alder body with a vintage U profile on the maple neck with a rosewood fingerboard (20 frets, 43mm nut width), weighs 4kg's. Previous owner removed the original electronics and it's now loaded with Wilkinson Alnico, aftermarket pots along with a Tropical Fish tone capacitor.
Headstock logo was also removed by the previous owner, however the year and model are confirmed by the original neck plate and matching Tokai stamps on the neck and body. Pickguard has been replaced at some point, given a restring and basic service prior to listing. The neck is straight and the truss was adjusted, the frets have some signs of wear/pitting but were polished and play well.
