1979 Greco SE-500J Jeff Beck Stratocaster Electric Guitar Japan (White)
From the 1979 Greco catalog, these were produced to emulate the guitar Jeff Beck toured Japan with a year before. Originally featuring 3 pickup toggles (now replaced with a 3-way switch, toggles still included though) and a master tone/volume knob to control the Maxon pickups, they're made with an ash body and maple neck U neck along with a nice dark rosewood fingerboard. Timeless white/black colour combo works with just about any setting.
With the poor quality coming out of the Fender factory in the 1970's, buying a Japanese guitar from this period can be a much better choice. The Japanese factories were producing high quality instruments throughout the 1970's, whereas the cost-cutting measures that CBS had implemented on Fender had a huge impact on the quality and consistency of their instruments. If you're after a vintage Fender-style guitar from the 1970's then you'll save money and gain quality in buying a Japanese guitar like this!
