1977 Aria Pro II ST-400N Stage Caster Stratocaster MIJ Japan (Natural)
1977 Aria Pro II ST-400N Stage Caster
From Matsumoko in 1976, the ST-400N was one of countless high quality Fender style models being produced in Japan. The ST-400N uses a solid Alder body and one-piece maple neck along with SP-II single coil pickups for "brilliant, rich sound with powerful sustain". Fender style logo's on a large 70's style neck and a 4 bolt neck joint. A nice thick neck profile and an overall weight of 3.9kg's make this a nice, beefy vintage Stratocaster.
With the poor quality coming out of the Fender factory in the 1970's, buying a Japanese guitar from this period can be a much better choice. The Japanese factories were producing high quality instruments throughout the 1970's, whereas the cost-cutting measures that CBS had implemented on Fender had a huge impact on the quality and consistency of their instruments. If you're after a vintage Fender-style guitar from the 1970's then you'll save money and gain quality in buying a Japanese guitar like this!
