1976 Greco Japan (Matsumoku) Stratocaster w/Maple Body
Made in the famous Matsumoku factory in early 1976, this Greco Stratocaster is a great example of just how good old Japanese guitars can be. A rare and desirable maple body with some beautiful birdseye grain, it wears an aged three-tone sunburst finish and weighs a nice chunky 4.2kg's. Maple neck has a '57 style profile and plays nicely.
Received a full teardown and rebuild prior to listing. It's got a brand new output jack, knobs and upgraded pots, loaded with the original Greco tuners and Maxon single coils. Neck is straight and the truss is functional, vintage frets were polished and play well with some light pitting. Has some cosmetic wear as pictured but no cracks or repairs.
This thing wears one of our own "lawsuit" logos on the headstock. We sometimes install these on instruments that arrive to us with damaged or previously removed logos and never remove a logo unless it's damaged beyond repair. We try our best to apply the decal in a way that suits the cosmetic condition and feel of the instrument too, so it maintains that famous "lawsuit" look from a distance that older Japanese guitars are known for.
