A very interesting build that we'll do our best to explain. In our educated opinion (backed up by some other industry experts), this is a 1989 build from the Japanese Fujigen factory that was made to emulate the American Standard in just about every way. Whether there were American parts used on Japanese guitars (or whether Japan made the parts that American guitars used) is often debated, but this thing definitely seems to have a lot of collaboration between the two countries.

A sunburst finish on an alder body with a maple neck and a 22 fret rosewood fingerboard (9.5" radius), it weighs 3.7kg's. American Standard features including USA style machine heads, headstock truss adjustment through the walnut plug, a 4 bolt neck plate with micro tilt adjustor, two-point tremolo system with block saddles, swimming-pool pickup routing with a ground wire and a US style headstock logo. The more you look at it, the more American it looks!

This is definitely not a parts build and it's CERTAINLY not a re-labelled guitar. The headstock logo, serial number and neck stamps (AST-1R) are all factory stock. It's also not a ST-STD model due to all the specs listed above.

Looks to have had the neck and bridge pickups replaced with Seymour Duncan rails, otherwise the internals look original and period correct with 1989 dated pots.

Lightly used condition for it's age with some patina and wear as pictured. Frets are smooth with some light play wear, plenty of life left in the frets with a straight neck and adjustable truss.
